Arbonne Kids

So after the 8th try of making this video the kids came in and crashed my one woman video making party.  The results were too hilarious not to share… and let’s face it, their version is WAY better! Click Here to check it out.

“That’s Not Nearly Enough Wonder Woman”

WonderWomanStarsWatermark

Yesterday my son was talking to me about Scribblenauts Unmasked.  Scribblenauts is an amazing PC game that allows the player to engage in the story.  The player writes words to aid the hero in accomplishing his goals.  It’s awesome… like animate Mad Libs.

He was describing the different things he had unlocked when he paused thoughtfully.  “There’s only one Wonder Woman level…. That’s not nearly enough Wonder Woman.”

I couldn’t believe my ears.  He proceeded to tell me the story was too short and was far too easy, which left him feeling disappointed.

SEEEEEEEE?!?!?!?!?!  Even a 7 year old gets it.  He actually understands the importance of women in literature and media.

I think it’s pretty spectacular that my son has a desire for strong female character story lines.  In a world and educational community where boys aren’t encouraged to like “girly” things, my son stands confident.

Here’s the thing…we don’t really “talk” about or complain openly about these kinds of issues.  We live by example.  We live a life that reflects the love and respect of God.

Let me address this from a Creationist perspective.  There is quite a bit of propaganda out in the world, but we don’t force that down our kids throat.  We use the Bible to guide our lives, which shows our kids what is good.  God created woman.  She didn’t happen by accident.  She was created.  Remember that God said it was NOT good for man to be alone.  That didn’t mean that woman was created because He didn’t want man to be lonely.  Adam walked with God in the garden.  How can you be lonely when God is with you?!  It wasn’t “good” because Adam only reflected part of God’s character.  God had to create another person that engendered the other aspects of God.  That’s how we are created in his image.  Creation wouldn’t have been complete without Eve!

Women are relevant.  Women characters and GOOD story lines are not only relevant but necessary and I’m proud that my 7 year old son understands that.   ❤

Hilarious Mothers Day Happenings

FullSizeRender 4

My 4yo is making me look like the WORST mom ever! For Mothers Day he wanted to draw me a Walking Dead picture. He commissioned his father to do the work and it was completed under John’s direction.

Yes…that is a mushroom cloud in the background.   John is a soldier with big muscles and a machine gun and the baby is his “older” brother.  Dad is totally missing (must not have survived the first wave). Zombies apparently come in two types, humanoid and cockroach.  Could the Apocalypse get any more TERRIFYING?!?!

John is still making changes…he just ran out of the room to get a special crayon saying “Wet pants, coming up!”

Now I’m going to have peed pants in my Mothers Day Picture.

Sigh… Happy Mothers Day to me!

For the record…my kids have never seen The Walking Dead…we’ve told him that it’s a bad show with Zombies and is too scary for him.

Bright side, I’m totally kicking butt in this new world!

Five Year Olds Writing

So a friend of mine, Floanna (name changed for privacy), suggested I post this.  My son is a month away from turning 5 years old.  Let me just pause for a second as I process that reality… MY BABY IS TURNING FIVE?!?!   WAA-AAAAH!   Now that I’ve composed myself, I just want to say that he is really a good story teller.  He’s been telling us very intricate stories for about a year now, but today he practically wrote a screenplay in his head.  It was kind of a Process Drama for lack of a better word.  It goes beyond pretending because he had it all blocked out but welcomed outside input!  Anyway,  though I’m very proud of him, this isn’t to brag about him.  It’s just to set you up for a good laugh, to encourage you and bring you some joy today!

I’ve written this down word for word exactly how it happened and I’m surprised how wonderfully it makes sense.  Mostly, it just cracks me up.  He’s got quite the imagination.  This story is based on a mix of children’s shows… SuperWhy, Noonbory, and Dora The Explorer.  ENJOY!  I hope this brings you a smile.
